TEXAS
HOLDEM STARTING HANDS 2 Previously, we talked
about which poker starting hands to play with if you
were sitting in an early position and the cards were
unsuited. This is a sure way for beginners to learn
how tightly they need to play if they want to increase
the size of their custom poker chip stack. It also
helps those poker players avoid huge hits to their
custom poker chip stacks which they often incur due
to their loose selection of poker starting hands.
Now we are going to look at how to look after those
valuable custom poker chip stacks when faced with
suited cards when you are in an early position at
the poker table.
2. Early Position Suited
We suggest that you read these pages in order because
we shall be drawing comparisons between the best way
to play each poker starting hand from different positions
at the poker table. To increase the size of your custom
poker chip stack, you must follow the advice we gave
you in the first of these pages. You must raise and
limp in (and more importantly fold) whenever we suggested.
This will help you to decrease the number of times
your custom poker chip stack gets hit due to your
poor, loose play.
In addition to the information we gave you previously,
you must limp in with the following poker starting
hands when they are suited:
So not a great deal of change here. Poker players,
especially beginners, often over-value their starting
poker hands, simply because they are suited. Remember,
cards being suited only gives you the extra potential
of hitting a flush and bringing in the custom poker
chip pot. Sure, this will gives your custom poker
chip stack a massive boost but you will rarely hit
a flush in Texas Holdem. It is not worth making reckless
moves with suited starting poker hands.
Keep your play tight and don’t fall into the
trap of thinking, ‘Oh, it’s only a small
percentage of my custom poker chip stack to call,
I may as well do it…’ This soon mounts
up and after a bit of time, you will see the results
in a diminished custom poker chip stack. Remember,
all other starting poker hands must be folded. Just
throw the cards away and save your custom poker chip
stack for a more valuable starting poker hand.
