STRATEGY FOR LIMIT TEXAS HOLDEM 4
4. River Pot-Limit Texas Holdem Strategy
Once you have made it to the river, how should we
be betting and gambling at this stage of the poker
hand? This is where knowing your opponents and other
poker players at the poker table is absolutely crucial
if you want to increase the size of your custom poker
chip set whilst minimising hits to your custom poker
chip stack.
If you have been betting a strong starting poker
hand like an Ace-King and have not been lucky enough
to spike any of the relevant cards, what do you do?
We suggest that if you only have one opponent at this
stage in the poker hand, you should check and then
call a raise if he/she uses his/her custom poker chip
stack to make such a move. Against any more than one
poker opponent, you should check and then fold if
you want to avoid a massive dent to your custom poker
chip set.
If you have a marginal holding, a poker hand which
gives you something but not necessarily the nuts,
what should you do with your custom poker chip set?
Now it really comes down to your poker opponent. Does
this poker player usually bet and gamble all the way
to the river with anything less than the stone cold
nuts? This is the critical question you should be
asking yourself if you value your custom poker chip
set. If you have noticed that the poker player only
gets to the river if he is going to turn over a winner
and claim the custom poker chip pot for himself, you
should check and then fold to his raise.
Obviously if you believe you have a strong holding,
preferably the nuts, you must make the bet with your
custom poker chip set. This is also an advisable move
if you have consistently been betting on a draw throughout
this poker hand. Say you miss it on the river, it
is probably worth putting down another bet with your
custom poker chip set as your opponent may be on a
draw too and it will put him off! As you know your
poker opponent cannot put his entire custom poker
chip stack into the middle of the poker table, you
can continue to show strength in this poker hand if
you think you can knock the other poker player out
of the poker hand on the river.
