3. JOHNNY CHAN
Although compared to TJ and Doyle, Chan has only
won the World Series of Poker twice, he tops the World
Series of Poker money winners list as he has bagged
a customized poker chip or two equating to $3,500,000
during his lifetime! He is of Hong-Kong descent and
moved to the US with his parents when he was a teenager.
When he landed in the US he started playing poker
for small amounts but you could tell even then that
he was going to bag a fair few huge customized poker
chip stacks in his time as a professional poker player!
He did attend University in Houston to study some
sort of business management course but the world of
poker and the World Series of Poker beckoned him in!
He quit his degree and took up gambling his customized
poker chip stacks for a living. He moved to Las Vegas
in 1978 and started gambling and gaming full-time.
Of course, we all know how successful he was with
his revered customized poker chip stack. His intimidating
manner earnt him the nickname, Johnny ‘The Orient
Express’ Chan and took him all the way to nine
World Series of Poker bracelets. He is only one of
three poker players to have ever achieved this (the
others who have maximised the potential of their customized
poker chip stack in this way are Doyle Brunson and
Phil Hellmuth).
4. JENNIFER HARMAN
Nobody said poker was just for men. Women can play
just as good a gambling game of poker with their customized
poker chip stack as their male counterparts can. She
is probably the best female player in the world and
is good friends with another poker star, Daniel Negreanu.
Not only this, but she and her customized poker chip
stack often come out on top of male players on the
World Series of Poker circuit. In 2000, she won the
World Series of Poker $5000 no-limit deuce-to-seven
event, without ever having played the game before
that day! Certainly one to look out for if you end
up at the World Series of Poker and value your customized
poker chip stack! It is great fun to watch some of
the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour
events to see how cool, calm and collected this player
is when her customized poker chip stack is under pressure.
Let’s hope that she lets us delve into some
of her poker skills for the benefit of us mere mortals
by writing a book in the very near future.
