| DAVE SCHARF’S
PLAYER CLASSIFICATION 2
2. The Over Value Tuna
This poker player plays his/her cards and his/her
customized poker chip stack better than the screaming
fish does but is still well below the standard required
if you want to come away with a larger customized
poker chip stack. The O-Tuna has a vague idea of poker
hand values but this poker player tends to overvalue
drawing hands like a flush or a straight draw. They
tend to flash their customized poker chip stack around
by chasing these sorts of hands all the way to the
showdown.
Like the screaming fish, the O-Tuna cannot think
about what other poker players sat at the poker table
have got. They can only play their own cards and their
own customized poker chip stack. They also tend to
overvalue suited cards, even if the cards are low
like jack-four. You will often see this sort of player
use their customized poker chip set to gamble on this
sort of poker hand from a very early position and
even call a raise from a late position raiser. These
players simply call too much, just like the S-Fish.
They are slightly more selective but in the end they
call too much and don’t give enough thought
to the size of their customized poker chip stack or
their positioning at the poker table.
How do us foxes (we will be looking at foxes later-all
we can say now is that you want to be a fox if you
want to increase the size of your customized poker
chip stack) beat O-Tunas? They won’t be watching
you sitting back and waiting for the best poker hand
to gamble your customized poker chip stack with. So
sit back, relax, watch the O-Tuna win with luck and
then allow him to call you when you raise with your
perfect poker hand. Once you have seduced them into
the pot, it is very hard for the O-Fish to lay the
poker hand down, regardless of the hand or pot odds.
If they think they hold a quality poker hand, they
won’t give it up whatever the community cards
are! Don’t try to bluff these sorts of players
too often by puching your customized poker chip stack
all the way into the middle of the poker table as
usually they will call. They will only fold if they
have the worst possible poker hands.
