How to Play Ten-Nine We have now
started to consider the medium strength poker hands.
If your hole cards are made up of two cards both 10
or higher, you are widely considered to have a strong
starting poker hand. 10-9 is therefore the strongest-medium
hand! How best to play the 10-9 in order to maximise
custom poker chip takings?
Regardless of position and whether the cards are
suited or not, you should not be calling a raise with
this hand otherwise you will lose more custom poker
chips than you win in the long run. You should only
be playing this poker hand when there are several
limpers in the custom poker chip pot and you can get
involved with the hand by merely calling. Once again,
you are looking to hit the flop, otherwise you must
get out if you want to go home with a custom poker
chip profit. It may be worth calling a small raise
from the blinds or the button, but only if the other
poker players are average players. Even if you spike
top pair, many poker players get their custom poker
chips in with hands such as A-10, K-10, Q-10 even
J-10 so your kicker is not going to help your case.
Your kicker is much more important than you think,
especially when playing with intelligent poker players!
The 8-7
You should never risk custom poker chips and play
with this hand from early-middle position. If you
have position and there are a few limpers, this position
alters the strength of the poker hand and means that
custom poker chips should perhaps be invested. This
thinking should be applied to hands such as 7-6 and
9-8 as well. Save your custom poker chips, move on
and wait for a stronger pair of hole cards. If your
custom poker chip stack is very low, it may be worth
investing your remaining custom poker chips in an
attempt to double-up. However, this should only be
tried as a last resort.
Again, it depends on the type of players you are
gambling with. Are they loose poker players? If so,
taking a stab at stealing the blinds from a late position
may be worth the custom poker chip investment. If
they are all tight, you should invariably throw away
this hand unless you can limp in for a very small
amount of custom poker chips. Remember the next deal
is only a couple of minutes away! |
