Guide to Playing Sixes
Our analysis of the Texas Holdem poker hands has
now lead us to consider the smaller pairs. These pairs
are often great for doubling-up your custom poker
chip stack towards the end of a tournament when there
are only a few poker players left. But they can also
get you and your customized chip stack into serious
trouble.
If you are playing sixes, fives, fours etc., the
trouble is that there will always be overcards to
your pair on the flop which jeopardises your gambling.
If you are lucky enough to avoid any overcards, the
cards will be so bunched together that it is bound
to have made someone trips or a straight. You do not
want to be risking custom poker chips in such a situation.
From early position, avoid raising custom poker chips.
From late position, you should avoid calling an early
position raiser unless there are several callers (in
which case you are getting good value for your custom
poker chip bet). If you call and the pot gets raised
(and perhaps re-raised) you really should fold unless
you really believe in the poker gods! Again, if the
raise or re-raise of custom poker chips get called
by many players, although it is likely that you don’t
have the best poker hand pre-flop, there is a massive
amount of custom poker chips in the pot and so in
relation to the number of custom poker chips you have
put in, you are getting good value for money.
Is it ever a good idea to raise custom poker chips
with these sorts of poker hands? The answer is yes
in limited circumstances. If you sit in a very late
position at the poker table (on the button or acting
just before the button), if no other poker player
has raised or called, it will be a good idea to raise
custom poker chips. Of course if no other poker player
has even limped in before you, this increases the
chance that a poker player sitting in the blinds has
a monster of a hand and is ready to rinse your custom
poker chip stack. But if you can try to create a heads-up
situation, you are a slight favourite to two overcards.
Alternatively, your raise might allow you to take
the pot down there and then if the blinds decide not
to get involved. Take the custom poker chips and move
onto the next hand. |
