COMMON TEXAS HOLDEM ERRORS 3
Here is another problem with many Texas Holdem
poker players’ gambling games. Make sure you
don’t mess up in the same way after you have
bought your personalized poker chip set!
3. Checking to the Raiser When You are on a Draw
Imagine the following scenario, taken from a real
live game of tournament Texas Holdem at the World
Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour. You made
a pre-flop raise with your new personalized poker
chip set and you managed to flop a straight or flush
draw (it doesn’t matter which for now). You
and your brand spanking new personalized poker chip
set are sitting in a late position at the poker table.
Because you put in a late pre-flop raise with your
new personalized poker chip set, this often creates
fear in your poker opponents during that particular
Texas Holdem poker hand so that they will often check
to you (this is simply called the ‘check to
the raiser’). The beauty of this is that even
if you don’t have anything recognizable on the
flop (no straight or flush, meraly a draw for either
poker hand), you have the opportunity to take a free
card to try to improve your poker hand (because every
other poker player has checked to you).
However, there is a choice in this matter! Just because
you have cleverly created the opportunity for a free
turn card, you can still raise with your personalized
poker chip set after the flop and after the other
poker players have checked to you, the raiser. We
only recommend this course of action if you have a
large personalized poker chip set at this point in
the Texas Holdem poker tournament and if you are only
against one or two other poker players in this poker
hand. You must believe that another large raise with
your personalized poker chip stack at this point will
cause your opponents to fold. He/she may not fold
on the turn and so you may have to adopt the same
strategy on the river, bluffing sensibly to try to
knock them out of the poker hand with your personalized
poker chip set. Remember, they may also be on a draw
and if they don’t hit it on the river, they
check and then fold very quickly when faced with a
raise from your personalized poker chip set.
