What to do and what not to do with the big
slick
The Ace-King can make or break a poker player and
make or break the size of his/her custom poker chip
stack! Essentially, this is a re-raising hand and
you must always raise or re-raise with it from any
position at the poker table except the blinds. You
should raise personalized poker chips from anywhere
at the poker table but you should avoid re-raising
custom poker chips from the blinds as once the flop
is dealt, you will have to act first. If you don’t
like what you see on the flop, it is hard to come
out betting custom poker chips confidently to show
strength. If someone raises customized poker chips
before you, re-raise them as they then have to act
before you on subsequent betting rounds and you can
get a good read on them when they are faced with your
show of strength!
Our advice is NOT to lead at the custom poker chip
pot and bet if you don’t hit any pairs on the
flop. It is best for you and your customized poker
chips to check and ensure no other poker player has
hit a pair. You will see many poker players in both
real tournaments and in online poker rooms, raising
with any ace (regardless of the strength of their
kicker). Don’t let this sway you as even the
big slick should be thrown away if you are in the
blinds facing a re-raise and a call to match the second
raise.
Your custom poker chip stack is in sever danger when
a flop with a queen and a jack in it is dealt. Other
poker players could potentially be beating you with
pairs of queens or jacks and as a result taking your
personalized poker chips. Although it is tempting,
try not to chase inside straight draws as you will
in the long run lose more custom poker chips than
you will win when you manage to get lucky. Many poker
players over-value the Ace-King but hopefully, having
read our advice, you will not fall into this trap.
Even a suited big slick is not streets ahead; it is
just a hand full of potential and relies heavily on
your positioning at the poker table. You must learn
to let the big slick go if you want to maximise your
custom poker chip winnings. |
