From early to middle positions, it is best to flat call with 9s rather than raising custom poker chips. The pair is not quite good enough to raise with from early position, but neither is it bad enough to lay down! From late position, it is probably best to make a raise of custom poker chips. Any limpers are likely to call the raise and they are likely to be holding overcards to your nines but at least you are building the custom poker chip pot and you are probably still have the best poker hand at this stage. Remember you can always cut your losses, stop gambling customized poker chips and wait until the next poker hand if any overcards hit the flop. You are not bound to make larger and larger raises of custom poker chips just because you made the initial raise.

As you made the initial raise of custom poker chips, it is very likely (almost certain) that the other poker players will check to you after the flop has been dealt. This is good for you because it means that you can see the turn card for free, without having to gamble any more custom poker chips. Even if there are overcards out, you can check for no more custom poker chips, why risk any? Don’t feel you have to continue to show strength and gamble custom poker chips even though you fear the overcards are a problem for you. It is likely that someone is eyeing up you and the custom poker chip pot and praying that you will raise so that they can check-raise and take the pot down.

Remember this advice is not paramount. It can only be best applied when combined with your gut instinct about the poker players you are playing and gambling with, and it must be adjusted to account for the number of poker players left in the tournament. If you feel your nines won’t stack up because a certain poker player has bet who is usually very conservative, why risk any custom poker chips? Just throw the hand away, save your custom poker chips and wait until you get better cards! If there are only three or four poker players left in a tournament, you would probably want to raise from any position at the poker table as this is a sure way to ensure you double-up your custom poker chips.
