The Book of Bluffs: How to Bluff and Win at Poker by Matt Lessinger
Buy from amazon.co.uk (UK)
Buy from amazon.com (USA)
This poker book covers every type of bluff imaginable, from the simple pre-flop raise with nothing (when every other poker player has folded/checked to you) right the way through to the masterful poker bluff where you call a raise then bluff after a re-raise!
Using real poker tournament examples, this book breaks down bluffs into categories, for example ‘Attacking Weakness’ or ‘Representing Strength’. It even has a section for the online poker fans, entitled ‘Online Bluffs’.
It makes reference to the classic Moneymaker bluff against Farha in the heads up part of the World Series of Poker Moneymaker went on to win. It also uses Chris’ earlier bluff in the same tournament which he himself describes as ‘the best hand I played during the entire WSOP’.
If you have understood everything in Caro’s Book of Poker Tells and Brunson’s Super System, this is the perfect addition to your poker library. It helps to clarify your thoughts, for example that you should be livid with yourself if you semi-bluff and win the pot simply because you were lucky enough to hit your outs. If you had to rely on your outs, the outs and not your skill forced your opponent to fold. This is not a poker hand where you should have even considered bluffing if your opponent was only forced to fold because of the river card!
If you love poker mathematics, you simply must read this book to expand your mind and take you up to the next level. Then you will be well on your way to a World Series of Poker Final Table!
