Bob Ciaffone has done much writing over the years on the game of poker and this book brings all that together, alongside some great new ideas and tips. Much of this advice is valuable for any aspiring World Series of Poker Champion!

The first section, entitled ‘General Concepts’ is followed by ‘Gambling Skills’, ‘Reading Opponents’ and ‘Deception and Bluffing’. Many poker professionals consider Ciaffone’s description of how, when and how to bluff as spot on. This is the aspect of the game of poker which many poker players don’t bother to learn about as they believe it to be totally without logic. This book shows how dangerous this mentality is and how to avoid it.

Ciaffone then splits the book into the different types of poker (Texas Hold’em, High-Low Split, Omaha etc.). Unlike many other poker books written by poker stars, Ciaffone will let you inside his head so that you can see his thought processes when a big bet poker situation arises. Often nicknamed ‘The Coach’, this poker book is a great addition to your home poker room and shows how there is much more to the game of poker than luck and a bit of bluffing! No wonder the same poker players regularly win the big poker tournaments like the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour.

The book assumes you are fairly knowledgeable about the game of poker already and many of the suggested strategies are targeted against other players who are of the same standard (i.e. not world poker champions!).

Overall, a perfectly structured book with some great insights into the game at a professional level. If you liked Caro’s Book of Poker Tells and Doyle Brunson’s Super System, this is the perfect complement.
