What are the chips made from?
The 2-colour 8-Stripe poker chips are made from a plastic polymer known as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. Thankfully, this is also known as ABS or ‘clay composite’ and the chips are known as either ABS chips or ‘home poker chips’.
They are a lot cheaper than their clay cousins but are a great choice for the home poker game because they look great and are the most durable chips on the market.
Each chip weighs 11.5 grams (slightly heavier than the standard casino chip which comes in at 9.5 grams) and contains a metal insert. This metal insert means that the chips have a beautiful clanky sound as they are ruffled together.
How big is the design area?
The chip features a customisable face on both sides of just over 31mm in diameter. This large surface allows for a lot of detail in your design (names and website addresses are clearly visible when printed).
How is my design put onto the chip?
Your design will be printed at 300 dpi onto a graphic inlay made from vinyl substrate, which is then precision diamond cut to ensure a smooth finish. The label inserts are then peeled off the backing and precisely fitted into a recess on either side of the poker chip. You can have a different design on each side (and as many designs across all the chips as you want).
The design on each side is finished with the renowned EverWear laminate seal to ensure the finished design has a nice glossy finish and remains durable (it makes them waterproof and stain-resistant). This resulting finish is a completely flush label insert, impossible to peel off and if you run your fingers over the surface of the chip, it is not possible to feel where the chip and the sticker conjoin.
What colour chips are available?
You can choose any of the following thirteen colours:
White, Black, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Brown, Yellow Green, Grey, Red, Burgundy, Purple, Pink and Orange.
Each chip has the 8-stripe design around the edge but this can be varied/removed if necessary.
Can I get samples?
Just send us your shipping address and we will get the chips to you within a couple of days free of charge.
How do I go about ordering/designing?
The first part of the process is the payment stage. We will agree a price according to the prices below and send out an invoice. Once you pay, the design process will begin. We will not do any designing before we have received the payment in full (or a percentage for larger orders). This is because we have a team of professional graphic designers who will work with you for free to design your chips and we cannot put them to work without the certainty of a definite order.
Once payment is out of the way, you have 4 options with regard to the design process:
You may have some design expertise yourself, in which case you can submit your completed design(s) to our design team (mail@personalpokerchip.com).
Secondly, you may just have the image files you want to be included. Please send them through to us at mail@personalpokerchip.com with as many instructions as possible about any further detail you want on each chip (colours, names, denominations etc).
Thirdly, you may have absolutely no ideas! In which case, don’t worry but just send through any ideas you may have, however vague.
Finally, we have our own unique online poker chip module on our partner site www.myownpokerchip.com. Here you can upload images, play around with text and add denominations to your heart’s content. Then, simply create an account at the end of the process so that our designers can access your work (instead of proceeding to the checkout stage).
Regardless of which design plan you opt for, please bear the following in mind during the design process:
When designing, please ensure your images are designed in a high-resolution format and in at least 300dpi.
Please make sure all logos you are using are not subject to copyright by another organisation, company or individual.
Ensure images are saved in a high-resolution format and in one of the following file extensions (in order of preference): .PDF, .EPS, .PSD, .TIFF, .BMP, .JPG or .JPEG.
What if I don’t like your designs?
However qualified our designers are, they can’t always produce the perfect design for you first time! This is not a problem because whether you have a complete design or just some vague ideas, we will mock you up a full digital design preview which shows exactly how your chips will look (see the examples below from a few of our previous customers). This proof set will be emailed over to you and you can amend and alter the design as much as you want.
Only when you finally approve the designs will our manufacturers go ahead and start to produce your chips.
How long does the whole process take?
Many companies will have huge lead times of more than 6 weeks because they produce in China. We produce your chips in the UK and will always adhere to the following time frame. Time is very important because many of our customers need the chips for weddings, poker nights, corporate events and club nights and so it is vital that we hit our deadlines:

Once your payment clears, a digital preview will be with you within 2-3 days.
Once you give your approval, production will take between 5-10 working days.
Shipping will take 2-3 working days. Therefore, assuming you make no alterations to our digital proof, the chips will arrive at your door within 9-16 working days of payment. Obviously at certain times of the year like Christmas/Easter the process may take a few extra days but this will be made clear in advance of us accepting any order. If you are in a huge rush, we may even be able to offer a premium service at a small charge, depending on how busy we are at the time.
How do I pay?
An invoice will be dispatched for each order and this will give full payment details. Payment can be made via the site (www.personalpokerchip.com), by cheque to our business address or by online bank transfer.
How much will it all cost?
As volume increases, our costs decrease and we pass these reductions on to our customers as much as we can. All prices include VAT and there are no hidden costs. Shipping to any destination in the UK is charged at £7.50 per 30kg (and each ABS chip weighs 13.5g).
Do you do discounts?
Many companies say they are giving you a huge discount when in fact their prices were inflated above a reasonable market level from the start! We compare ourselves with the market every day to ensure we remain competitive and we can honestly say that we have the best prices anywhere in the UK. If you find a better price anywhere in the UK then come to us with the information and we will happily match it.
For this reason, we rarely offer discounts on the above prices unless we have an extremely large number of chips being manufactured in that week. In this case we will pass on the resulting savings to our customers in proportion to the number of chips ordered by each person.
And Finally...
You have now got pretty much all the information you need to get started. Have a think about how many chips you might need and the quantities needed in each colour/denomination. If you don’t have a completed design, to enable our designers to achieve the best results make sure that you give us as much information as you can concerning colours/images/styles/logos/fonts etc.
Many companies out there, whether based in the UK or not, will promise a great print and fit and a fast lead time but just make sure you see their samples in advance to check the quality of both the chip surface and the embedded design. We are convinced that you will agree with us that our chips and service are second to none and we are happy to issue a full money back refund if you are at all unhappy with the quality.
